Nick is a Queensland born, bred and educated General and Interventional Cardiologist.

Dr Aroney achieved First Class Honours in his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Griffith University in 2011. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in Adult Cardiology following appointments at the Royal Brisbane and The Prince Charles Hospitals. He subsequently completed a two-year coronary and structural fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital.

In 2020–2021, Dr Aroney undertook a Structural Heart Fellowship at St Thomas’ Hospital, London, United Kingdom, an internationally recognised centre of excellence in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), adult structural, and adult congenital heart procedures. During this time, he was involved in international clinical trials and first-in-human procedures.

Dr Aroney’s clinical interests include the management of aortic stenosis, acute coronary syndromes, structural heart disease, cardiac 3D modelling, and cardiovascular risk factor modification. He has published manuscripts and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and presents regularly at national and international conferences.

He performs a wide range of coronary and structural interventions, including percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI / stenting), transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and adult congenital interventions such as patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defect (ASD) closure. He is a nationally accredited TAVI practitioner.

Dr Aroney practices at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside and Mater Hospital, South Brisbane, where he serves as Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories. He is a member of Heart of Australia, providing cardiac services to regional Queensland, and is an Associate Lecturer at The University of Queensland.

Nick enjoys soccer and board games, but his greatest joy comes from spending time at the beach with his wife and three young children.
